Reactors need about 68,900 tonnes of uranium a year. Mines produced 60,213 tonnes in 2024, 87% of what reactors require. The rest comes out of inventory and secondary supply.

Mines cover 87 of every 100 pounds reactors need.

The other 13 come out of inventories and secondary supply, which are finite and already drawn down.

Neither counterparty is obliged to spend.
